Night Out In Hong Kong - Carbone & Ce La Vie

Updated: Sep 24, 2018

THE PERFECT NIGHT OUT

IN HONG KONG

Carbone & Ce La Vie

I absolutely loved Carbone in Hong Kong! Its location could be easily missed so I would suggest following closely on a map. It is located at 9/F, LKF Tower, 33 Wyndham St, Central, Hong Kong. The LKF tower also houses the Hard Rock Cafe as well as a few other restaurants. We were told that this area of town has a large ex-pat community and when we walked around we definitely noticed there was lots of different types of people and Westernized Restaurants. This was on Hong Kong Island in the"Central" area by the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong.

I had really been wanting to try Carbone in New York City but never got a chance to as it was relatively hard to get a reservation when I lived there. In Hong Kong it was actually quite easy to get a reservation and they use SevenRooms as well so the online reservation system was pretty seamless. The food was fantastic and looks very similar to that which is served in New York City as I did some research before we went. I ordered the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka which consisted of Tomato, Onion, Calabrian and Chili and Travis ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara with Pancetta, Black Pepper and Parmesan, both which were of true Italian taste.

The Spicy Rigatoni we requested to be less spicy. They use chili to flavor the dish so this was something easily controlled. They came out with a huge selection of bread for us to try and a massive parmesan cheese wheel where they carved out fresh cheese to have with our bread. The wine selection was also fantastic and Travis was able to get his Vodka Tonic so we were very content throughout our meal. I thought the pricing was also quite reasonable for the entrees and appetizers and the drinks a little on the expensive side but we didn't mind as the atmosphere was top notch.

They also had mixologists in the center of the room at this really cool bar set up. There was a gentleman hanging out there for a portion of the night so it seems you can walk up and just grab a drink if you like. The venue was quite small but they did a great job with the set up and flow of each room. The dishes, floor, napkins, chairs and tables all gave a very Italian feel to them. If you looked around you may even think you were in Rome or New York. We loved it. After our meal we made our way to a spot we heard had fantastic views and was also a two-minute walk away called Ce La Vie Sky Lounge.

CE LA VIE SKY LOUNGE

We headed over to Ce La Vie Sky Lounge at around 9:00 PM. As you can see from the photos it had a fantastic view and a great crowd. I also loved that we could just walk right in and didn't have to deal with a doorman etc. at least not this early in the night. Doormen are something I am used to in NYC but you don't see as much of it in Seoul so I am getting used to that. Also, in Seoul everyone waits patiently in line to get into most places opposed to a One Oak NY or Hotel Rivington Rooftop where people would go straight up to the doorman and try their luck.
